Estudio Garrido Abogados and Gunderson Dettmer advise in the First Round of Financing of Quasar Ventures
Estudio Garrido Abogados advised Quasar, a new entrepreneurship founded by the very well known entrepreneurs Santiago Bilinkis, Andy Freire (with Bilinkis co-founders of Officenet) and Pablo Simón dedicated to the development of techonological projects and their financing, who has raised US$ 5.4 millons from a group of strategic investors advised by Gunderson Dettmer including Emergence Capital Partners –a venture capital fund from Sillicon Valley- to found ten new tech-companies globally during the next four years.
Quasar is the first “company builder” in Latin America, a new concept in the creation of companies that is growing globally and that it is supported in the experience of its members to implement ideas and to build great impact companies. Its model is called “parallel entrepreneurship”, and it is based on identifying strong business models, selecting them as projects and then associate them with the best entrepreneurs to implement them. Quasar grants the capital for the beginning of the Project and its global net to assure the financing of each startup. “It is because of these distinctive characteristics that Quasar is not an investment fund nor an incubator. We are a Group of experimented entrepreneurs with the mission of creating successful tech-companies, getting together successful business plans with talented entrepreneurs”, said Pablo Simón Casarino, founder and CEO of Quasar Ventures.
The background of the founders includes their participation in sucessful entrepreneurships like Officenet (retailer of office goods that reached 150 millons of dólares on sales in 4 years), Coffice (coffee company sold to Luigi Lavazza in 2010 that reached 3,000 clients in Argentina in 5 years) Wanako (leading video game factory sold to Vivendi Universal in 2008) and Restorando (developer of the online platform restorando.com an internet portal that allows you to make a reservation on a restaurant online that has more than 1,000 restaurants in Argentina and Brazil).
The company was advised by Estudio Garrido Abogados through its partner Gustavo Garrido and associate Francisco Ruiz Guiñazú. The investors were advised by partners Brian Hutchings and Steven Ray and associaties Charles Glass Jr. and Joseph Green from Gunderson Dettmer.
